Celebrating Pride in Belper

Central Co-op attended Belper Pride on Saturday 3rd August. We took our stall on the main street near to our Strutt Street store. Colleagues from the business, retail, funeral and the Northern Membership & Community Council supported the event. Pride in Belper is a charity that fully supports the LGBTQ+ communities of the town and work tirelessly to ensure equal rights and representation for everyone, so it was great to be part of this great network.
The same as the Co-operative Movement that has values and principles including: equality, equity as well as self help, self responsibility, democracy and solidarity. The Co-operative Movement for nearly 180 years has been advocating these values.
On our stand we promoted the Malawi project of selling products and funds are made into a Co-operative Development Fund to help Malawi out of poverty, as well as our Fairtrade products that has helped countries for years of being equal. We also showcased our Oxfam range and how by selling these products what a great difference it makes. Having such a great platform in the stores showcases our point of difference.
We engaged with the public with games and activities on the stand as well as giving out flags and stickers. The event was a great success and it was lovely to see Belper so busy with vibrant colours, laughter and fun!
