"We're CoCoMAD for Membership"

On Saturday the 2nd of July, we supported CoC0MAD, a community festival very close to our Cotteridge Store in South West Birmingham.
As our Cotteridge Store was a 10 minute walk from the festival, we popped along with our Co-op Gazebo and talked to festival goers about the benefits of membership and healthy food choices. We also handed out free fruit and other treats.
The festival offered live music, independent street food and was great for all the family. Despite heavy rainfall, attendees were still enthusiastic and determined to have fun.
Western MCC Member and Cotteridge resident Laurence Braitwaite said about the event;
"CoCoMAD stands for Cotteridge Community Music, Arts and Dance. With a history of Co-operative support for the Cotteridge community, it was good to be back after two years of cancelled festivities. Smiling faces and an urge to share experiences marked a great day that we were part of. Central England Coop isn't just about shopping - it's about being at the heart of the community and that is what being at CoCoMAD is about.
"I've been involved in supporting Friends of Cotteridge Park for many years, helping them with my marketing skills and position as a membership and community council member to finance their activities. The best part of the day was helping people understand why we were there and what opportunities membership can open up - whether it's attending the local coop supported gardening club or further afield with the Film Coop."
We support CoCoMAD every year and we look forward to doing so again in 2023.
