What We've Been Up to

The last few months have been busy with lots of activities and events taking place as well as planning for the months ahead where we look forward to taking some of our activities outside.
A big portion of our work has focussed on health and wellbeing and we have delivered healthy choices workshops in Badgerbrook School, close to our Whetstone Store, the Family Hub in Kettering and held a stall at the Healthy Schools Network Conference in Leicester where we have been inundated with requests for both our classroom workshops and in-store activity too. We also attended Belgrave Housing Co-op's Health and Weelbeing day held at the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre in Leicester.
We have also supported the Peace Centre Food Bank, close to our Thurncourt Road Store, by helping to prepare food donations for Eid and also giving a donation to help families in need at this important event on the calendar.
Other activities included helping out with career advice at a Careers Day at Fulhurst College, and welcoming the Market Harborough Beavers into our store to learn about Fairtrade and our support for Malawi.
Finally, some of us took part in the YMCA sleepeasy fundraising event by swapping our beds for the night and sleeping out in the cold in a cardboard box to help raise awareness for the homeless. The plus for us was that we were safe and secure at the Kingpower Stadium, and of course this not the case for many young homeless people sleeping on the streets.
