Dying Matters Awareness Week - 5th-11th May 2025

It has been a busy week for the Southern MCC with supporting the National Campaign for Dying Matters Awareness Week.
Dying Matters Awareness Week is an opportunity to encourage everyone in the community to get talking about what matters to them when the times comes. Hundreds of events take place across the country and we wanted to support the week, working alongside our experienced and knowledegable funeral colleagues.
We held three events over the week at our Irthlingborough Store, McCartneys Funeral Home in Hinckley and at our Insomnia Cafe in Blaby. We found that our members, customers, passer's by and the general public were comfortable talking about their own funeral wishes and also wanted to share stories about their own experiences of attending or organising funerals for loved ones.
Although sometimes the subject feels taboo, we had a wonderful week just taking the time to listen and have conversations around what matters when you or someone you know dies. At an emotional time and with the added stress of so much to sort out, our funeral colleagues are on hand to help you through this difficult time with advice and guidance and a friendly face, and the kettle is always on!
If you want to discuss any aspect of funerals, funeral planning or just pick up a wish list, please pop in to your local funeral home or call 01543 421378 .
