Helping to Feed Children

The Southern MCC, along with our Funeral Colleagues, this week have been helping to serve hot meals to children accessing Holiday and Fun activities at St Matthews Big Local.  The children accessing the activity have come from various areas across the city and come from hard pressed families who receive benefits or are on a low income.  For children who meet the criteria for free school meals, school holidays can bring extra pressure on families so activities such of these make a real difference.

On the last day, the children were treated to a visit from Father Christmas and every child received a gift, which had been donated by local businesses.

Central Co-op Southern Membership & Community Council and colleagues in the region support St Matthews Big Local in the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.
