In recognition of Great Big Green Week, the Southern Membership & Community Council held two events across the region.
For the first event, we teamed up with both our funeral and retail colleagues to promote our greener funerals and of course membership in the square in Market Harborough Town Centre. Our funeral colleagues took the opportunity to showcase our electric mustang vehicles, and we were also joined by our funeral planning team, and staff from two nearby natural burial grounds. The general public were interested to hear about all aspects of funerals and the choices on offer. They particular enjoyed looking around the electric vehicles and one gentleman even asked if he could sit in one as he was a car enthusiast.
Our second event was in partnership with Co-op Group and Waterloo Gardens in Great Oxendon where we a Seed & tool swap. Unfortunately, the weather was being kind to us so we pitched up under the shelter outside the wonderful farm shop on the site. Tim Adkin, who volunteers for the National Forest and is also a member of the Southern Membership & Community gave an interesting talk on some of the unusual plants that he grows in his much loved garden. Following the talk, and just as the sun was starting to peep through, we had a guided walk around the beautiful garden.
