Supporting Loneliness & Isolation, Health & Wellbeing

Date Published: 21/02/2020 | Blog category: Southern

Our Southern MCC support a number of groups who meet in our local communities and this week I caught up with our Women of Wisdom Co-operative, who meet in Braunstone, our Thorncroft Friendship Co-operative who meet in the centre of Leicester,  and our Pop In Cafe, who meet in Thurnby Lodge.  I am always humbled when I speak to members about the importance of the groups - the common theme often being loneliness and isolation but thankfully leading on to making new friends and having a sense of belonging. The groups have full and active programmes from making crafts, to playing cards and games, to speakers and bingo and also enjoy outings to the seaside or for a meal.  Everyone is made welcome and there is always a smile, a cuppa and something to eat.
