Today our colleagues and MCC members made a return visit to Saffron Brook in Leicester. We previously volunteered during Co-op Fortnight where we cut back some of the over-grown raspberry bushes to support the wildlife.
The task today was to clear away some of the weeds in the pond area, again to support and encourage pond life. We were also very fortunate to once again have Rob as our leader who is so knowledgeable on all aspects of the environment, and we are very grateful to him for sharing all his expertise. We had a great time, worked hard, and have made a real difference already to the pond.
The Saffron Brook/Wash Brook is a major tributary of the River Soar in South Leicester, Oadby and Wigston and has been identified as a priority area for river restoration for the benefit of people and wildlife.
