Gorgeous Garden Gatherings

At the Central Co-op Gardening Club, summer is an extra special time, for this is when we visit member’s gardens. It is so lovely to wonder round people’s gardens, enjoy them and take inspiration from them.

In May we visited 2 member’s gardens in Cotteridge, South Brimingham. Both gardens were packed with delights such as veteran fruit trees, an array of flowers and aromatic herbs. Birmingham is so often thought of as a grey and concreted city, but that information clearly hadn’t reached the ears of our gardeners for they showed us beautiful, relaxing and full of nature and wildlife spaces!

Both hosts told us of when they started their gardens, how they had progressed and changed over the years. Interestingly both gardeners wanted to have a space for relaxing in, especially in the evening sun and all those that visited can testify that this was achieved! For as well as talking about the plants these evenings are a great way to socialise and, of course as we always do at meetings, each delicious cake!
